You have to go to them sometimes."

Friday Pretties at the Farmer's Market...

Happy Friday Pretties!
Big Jer, my youngest and I went to our
local farmer's market on Saturday.
It has been a long, cold winter and
this Farmer's Market is a
 breath of fresh air.
F-U-N!
A favorite spot that I found on this
shopping trip is
Shower Treat Soap
 Wouldn't these be great gifts?
I think that I need to think ahead.

Everything smells soooo
 YUM!

 And of course...
I love all of the plants and flowers.
Things are really greening up in my gardens
with all of the rain we have had-
especially my lovely weeds...
But, I  don't want to complain because
I know that there are many, many
devastated families and friends
who have lived through the
very destructive tornados around the country.

To any of you out there that have been touched
by these disasters please know that
my heart goes out to you.

Friday Pretties Luxury...

To me...

a lush carpet of pine needles
or springy grass
is more welcome...
than the most
luxurious Persian rug.

Mother's day

Happy Mother's Day
My Mom went home to
Heaven in September.
The firsts are hard.
This is the first Mother's Day without my Mom.

But, I am going to honor her today by
enjoying my own family.
That is what she would
LOVE!

Enjoy your day.

Friday Pretties Dreaming...

Here I go again...
Dreaming of a little cottage on a lake.
The back wall of doors extends the living area to the porch. The substantial trim work above the doors adds height for a seamless transition to the tall ceilings inside.

Sunshine Day Living Room

white kitchen with French doors and a painted floor
In this beachside bunkroom in South Carolina, a pop of solid color against the small-scale print anchors the space while still keeping the mood light and the look cohesive. The rug picks up on the other blues so that the patterns can coordinate, not clash.

Coastal Master Bedroom

This tent-like tipi has an air mattress inside for added comfort and makes a great place for children to play (or nap!).

Summer Reading & "The Little Things..."

Summer Time Reading
I just read four good books.
 The Sky Is Everywhere
By: Jandy Nelson
The Sky is Everywhere - Jandy Nelson

Left Neglected
&
Still Alice
By: Lisa Genova

 Last year I also read
The Help
By: Kathryn Stockett
I read this book last year and loved it.
I decided to buy the audio version of it
The Help
and am listening to it in my car
as I drive around,
and also as I sew.
The audio is so, so good.
The different voices add so much to the book.
I highly recommend the audio version.
Check your local library.
And, I just saw that it is being made into a movie.
I CANNOT wait!!!

P.S. I do want to let you know that all four of these
books have some language in them.
 Just a forewarning.

Any Suggestions from fellow readers?

I have so many that I hardly
know where to start...

A"Little Thing"
that I love
is really a big thing to me...
READING

Read
by Ann Turner

Do you remember
learning to read?
That book full of squiggles
like ants, escaped.
the teacher's big thumb
on the page,
your heart beating inside
afraid that all you'd ever see
was ants---
Then a word popped out.
"See," and another, "cat,"
and my finger on teacher's
we read "I see cat."
I ran around the room
so happy I saw words
instead of ants.

I remember this moment.
My life changed dramatically
when I learned to read.
Freedom to go anywhere...
