Birthday Pampering Time

As some of you know ,who follow my blog, that my Mom is living with me.
Last year she found out that she had the dreaded "C" word,
a word that her and I don't like to say.

She had a major surgery, and a try at chemo, which was very bad for her.
It is at the point now where there is no good option for treatment.
So, here we are.
The doctor suggested Hospice,
and that is what she has decided to do.

My sister, Sherrie, came last weekend with her family.
Sunday they all left except her,
and my family is in Florida for the week,
so it was just us three girls.

My Mom's birthday is coming up, so we decided that we should treat her to a pedicure.

Her first one Ever!!!

She doesn't have a lot of energy, so we thought that this would be a perfect activity for all of us to do together.

It was!

She loved it!
And, she has very pretty pink toenails!!!

Such FUN!
She loved being pampered , and wants to do it again!

Here is Sherrie enjoying her pampering.

The finished product!
Such a wonderful, fun day!!

AND, today these BEAUTIFUL flowers arrived for me!
Yes, me-
I feel like a little kid I love them so much!
My buddy Renee, that you all know from
sent them to me
"Just Because"

So Sweet...
Thank you Renee,
Oh...and she made me dinner!!

What a gal...

Apronisms

Here's a funny story...

I know that I just posted this picture on my last post,
but I thought that re-posting it would be a good idea because I have had a few comments about it, and I just wanted to clear something up. :)
A friend of mine, who reads my blog,
came over to my house yesterday.
She looked up on my mantle and saw my Apronisms book on it.
She started laughing because she thought that it was a full size book,
when in reality it is a little miniature book.

Some of the "Apronisms" in this darling little book need to be shared.

"There is more to life than increasing its speed."
-Mahatma Gandhi

"Wearing an apron is just good sense."

"In the world of aprons, there's no such thing as too much rickrack."

"Smile when you answer the phone.
Your listener can hear a smile a thousand miles away."

"Fear not letting go the apron strings."
"Sometimes the best way to hold on to something is to let it go."

"If your pie crust won't stick together, make cobbler instead."

"A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety."
-Aesop

"Happiness is good health and a bad memory"
-Ingrid Bergman
(My personal favorite)
My beautiful cousin Becky brought me this little treasure when she came to visit last weekend.
At Christmas she had asked me to make some aprons for her sister's.
So, there you go-
That is our apron connection.

THANK YOU BECKY!!!

Gifts for Mom

Some of you, who have followed my blog, know that my Mom is living at our house because of an illness.
I have some wonderful, dear, sweet, loving friends who have not only been a friend to me, but have also become wonderful friends to my Mom.
One of my dearest friends, Debbie. made this warm, fleece,
cupcake blanket for my Mom.
She is always cold these days, so it has been used everyday!
The bonus is that it matches my house perfectly! :)
Debbie and her husband, Gentleman Farmer Paul, have chickens.
So, we also received these BEAUTIFUL green and brown eggs
straight from their back yard.

And, one more amazing gift was given-

Honey from their beehives!

Are these people amazing?
This honey is coveted by many, and we got a jar!

So, the blanket is used everyday-

The eggs have been eaten-

And, the honey is on her toast every morning.

Check out her face-
Do you think that she likes her gifts?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU
DEBBIE & PAUL!!!

Dirty Work

Two out of three of my boys are working at a greenhouse for a few weeks helping the greenhouse get ready for their season.
I love it because it is dirty, hard work, which is PERFECT for strong, able-bodied, young men!
I really, really believe that kids need to work.
It gives them, not only their own money, but also it gives them a sense of "ableness".
They realize that they can do way more than they think!
My oldest stopped by for lunch the other day,
well, o.k., everyday...
(I love it!)
and this was his outfit.
CUTE!

I don't think that they will ever look at plants or flowers the same again!

My Mom is now living with us because of health issues.
Lots of friends have brought her flowers to brighten her days.
It feels like Spring in my house now!
PRETTY!!!
I LOVE FLOWERS!!!
HAPPY, HAPPY SPRING!!!

Happy Happy Saturday!!!
This is an apron that I made.
I have made a variety of aprons, bags,
flag banners etc...
Anyway, I am thinking about opening an Etsy shop.
Do any of you have any advice for me?

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

My buddy Renee from,
has given me so many wonderful gifts
over the years that I wouldn't even
be able to put them all on one post.
The post would be way too long!

Look at these charming, sweet, spring-like glasses!!!
I love them so much!

But, with that love comes the fear of using them.
I told my boys that they are Off Limits.
I haven't even used one yet.
Maybe it's time?

This is a bunny that Renee
made for me for my birthday.
I love bunnys, and this bunny is so special
that she will be out all year long.

Really,
How talented can one person be?
And, generous too...

Thank you Gift-Giver Friend Renee

I Found My Lost Post!!!

This is a cute little stand that I found in an antique store last summer.
I bought her to sell at our show last fall, but I could not, and cannot part with her.
She stands in my sewing room and holds projects for me.
Right now she is holding a Cowboy tote bag and some children's play capes.
Sometimes little girls want to be Superman Like,
but certainly want to look girlie while saving the world from the bad guys. :)
I almost didn't buy her.
I walked away.
Then I heard the owner of the shop say those magic words...
How much would you be willing to pay?
Aaaahhhh...
The Rest Is Happy History!

Spring Time Lamby

Here is Lamby all decked out for Spring!
Some of you may remember my February post featuring Lamby in in her Winter garb.

Now she is feeling all bright and cheery in her
Spring Ribbon & Pretty Felted Flower.

Another Package Arrived! And, from a give-away!! So FUN!!!

I have been gone for almost a week.
I needed to go back to my home town.
(check out my sister's blog
to see more about that )
Both of my parents are having some serious health issues.
It was a bittersweet, and often, stressful week full of doctors appointments,
tests and hospital visits.

But, best news ever-

I got to bring my Mom home with me for a week.

Last night when we arrived at my house, I came in and this is one of the things that I saw.
You all know how I feel about packages!!!
Some of you may have read my post about the thrill of a package arriving for me.
Well, this one is EXTRA special because this was from

I won her give-away a couple of weeks ago,
which is so fun in itself,
but then the actual package arrives-

THRILLING!!!
Look at the cute little label she has.. :)
And, this was what was inside!!!
Could these be any cuter?!?

My kids are all big now, but someday...
Grandbabies?

This is the
"Brown & Pink Peek A Boo Block"
Look at the adorable face...
And with it is was the
"Lovey Blanket".
Look at all the silkies that she sewed all around the edge of this cuddly little blanket,
Little ones love the silkies!

THANK YOU THANK YOU

D-LYN FROM YESTERDAY!!!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT

LOST POST!!! :(

I accidentally deleted a post!
I am out of town this week, but last week a wrote a post so that today I could just hit post and there it would be.
But, it is gone!!!
Can any of you feel my pain?!?

Sunday, March 7, 2010

This is a picture that I took yesterday.
Things look rather gloomy out there, but I know that wonderful things are coming!

Spring is on its way...
And soon the scenery will change
.

I took June June the Wonder Dog out yesterday morning,
And this is what I found!!!
There is nothing that gives more hope than new life in the Spring.
To see COLOR!!!
Oh, so exciting!
I really, really hope that it doesn't snow again.
I do not want these tender little beauties to be damaged.
It really is amazing though, how tenacious these little plants can be.
They seem to survive and bloom through all kinds of weather.

It's Almost Spring!!!
