Tea Time?

This is my husband whom I often call
"Big Bear Jer".
Have any of you girls out there noticed that as the years add up in marriages that there are occasionally changes in the hubbys that are unexpected. but very nice.
Well lately Big Jer has been really thinking about and wanting to do things with me that make me happy. Simple things like going grocery shopping with me. or running to Target (my favorite shopping place, yes, I said Target) or watching a chick flick with me.
Now, Jer always had signs of this throughout our marriage, some years more than others, but this year he is on it!

Anyway, Saturday night I told him that I had to run to the library and he said that he would come with.

?!?

I was thrilled.

I really don't care about a fancy, expensive night out. I love just doing everyday things together.
On our way to the library he said that he wanted to take me somewhere that he thought I would love.
And, he was right!

After 25 years he can still surprise me.
I love that :)

We stopped at an adorable little shop called
It is a little place with delicious teas, desserts, chocolates and gifts.

These are the two lovely girls who helped us pick out what tea we were going to try that evening.
Caitlin is on the left and Lindsay is on the right in pink.
Lindsay helped us pick out a wonderful minty tea.
So delicious!!!
And, she was so knowledgeable about all of the teas they have to choose from.
Candy, Candy, Candy...Who could ask for more?
I asked their permission to take some pictures of the shop and feature them on my blog.
They agreed!!!
Here are some more of the pretty and delicious things that they have available at
I didn't have dessert there, but I will definitely go back and try some of those goodies!
I LOVE PRETTIES!!!
More YUM!
Look at all that tea!!!
There are so many that it makes it hard to decide!

If you are ever in Portage, Michigan stop by and check out ChocolaTea.
You won't be disappointed!

One last note to end on-
As we go through our lives, if we are giving, kind, and considerate, in the end we will be surrounded by people that we love.
If we go through our lives full of pride, taking whatever we want, and being selfish in our word and deed, we will be all alone at the end.
I have seen it over and over again.
Selfish people are very lonely people.

In this world of Self, Self, Self, God tells us how to have loving and satisfying relationships.
It is simple, but sometimes very hard to do.

"Do to others as you would have them do to you."
Luke 6:31

"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit,
But in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better Than himself."
Philippians 2:3

Bonjour!!!

My sister Sherrie, from the blog,
was looking for a project to do on these cold, winter days.
She inspired me to make a bag. So, I went to the fabric store and when I saw this fabric, for some reason, even though I don't normally choose this style, the fabric caught my eye.
An Artist painting a wonderful French masterpiece...
A little foo foo puppy...
A Monsieur and Mademoiselle...

Do these pictures make you wish that you lived in that time and place?
They do me.

It looks like fun!

But, then again, I was definitely born into the wrong time period.
I even made two pockets for the inside of this bag.
No big deal for some, but I am quite proud of myself. :)

Speaking of
check out her post for today.
O.K., I am her sister, but I am telling you that,
That Girl Is CUTE!

Pedi's In The Winter?

I got a pedicure just before I was suppose to go on my trip to Florida.
When I didn't end up going I was kind of bummed because I had spent money on a pedicure that was going to be hidden under sock and boots.

Well, everyday when I see my feet with those pedicured toes,
it makes me happy.

So, I have decided that maybe all winter long I should indulge in this luxury.

Why Not?

Bright, happy toes are just the thing to brighten up these dreary, February days.

My friend Renee, from Sewn With Grace, went with me and she had her toes painted bright blue with sparkles!!!
How fun is that?

Do any of you have any color suggestions for my next pedi?

February Snow-Lovers? Really?

SNOW-LOVING JUBILANT MICHIGANDERS
There are people who rejoice in a February weather forecast that includes snow!!!

Can you believe it?

They get all excited and peppy at the thought of MORE snow after months, and months, and months of all of this cold, white stuff.

Who can understand the heart and mind of such a person?

Lamby here, is up for any weather.
She is like one of those geese that people dress up and put on their front porch, except that she is a lamb that gets dressed up and stands by the fireplace in her seasonal garb.

I know that it is cheesy, but I cannot help myself.

Today, as I took down the Valentines decoration, I considered changing Lamby's look for Spring.Good thing I didn't, because
A BIG SNOW IS COMING!!!

Lamby is going to stay in her Winter garb until this dreadful snow is gone.

Can you tell that I am 100% a
Spring & Summer Girl?

I guess that I'm not too subtle in this area...

Some People Are Lamp People...

There are some people who are lamp people, and some who are rug people, and I am both of those, but I am really a chair person. I love unique and wonderful chairs.

I got this chair & footstool from a lady that lived in a big old house and would redo anything you brought to her from old furniture to a lamp. She was so talented!
My friend and I went over there one day though, and she was gone. We have no idea where she went or what happened to her. It's a mystery...

These chairs I found in a really cute second hand shop. She only had two (I wanted six) but, I took what I could get and I LOVE Them!!!
This is just a comfy cozy rocking chair.
This chair is one of three. It is an old, wrought iron patio chair. I just quickly covered the gross, cracked vinyl seat with fabric, but I am going to make new seats for them. This one is my desk chair. I wanted four, but again, I took what I could get.

This chair I got at a flee market. It also has a really gross seat, which I am in the process of fixing. I didn't have to paint it though!
I Love, Love Love the pink!
This is just a nice, girly place to sit when I want to hide away. When my friend Rebekah comes over we always go into this room with a cup of tea and the fire going and talk, and talk, and talk.
No Boys Allowed!!!
This is one of my favorite chairs just because it's cute!
The little footstool is from a show that I went to. It is for looks only.
Very Unstable. :)

The Journey Part II Blessings, Blessings, Blessings

My very first post on this blog is The Journey Part I. As I said then, and am saying today, we are always taking steps on our Journey's. Sometimes forward, sometimes backward, and sometimes we have to step to the side.

This week was a step forward, but definitely in a different direction than I expected. My Mom had a health scare, so instead of flying off to Florida, I drove off to my hometown to help take care of her.

Here are some of the blessings that have come with this step in a different direction-

Taking care of someone who took such good care of me when I was sick.
(Until I was probably 35 I would cry for my Mom whenever I threw up).
Not kidding

Spending time with my Mom and Lil'Sis, working together to help each other.

Loving someone so much that when they are hurting or sad you are too-
Yes, that is a blessing!

Enjoying our time together, even when it isn't always the fun stuff.

Praying for big and small details to be worked out, that seem to hard to even think about, and God with such ease working things out perfectly.

Knowing that we are each so intimately known and love by the God of the Universe!!!

With each and every hardship in our lives come many, many wonderful blessings.
That doesn't mean that we don't hurt, or feel frustrated, angry, or tired sometimes, but it does mean that God works all things for good for those who love Him.

I just pray that I can continue on my Journey with lots of love, grace, patience and mercy, which are all gifts that can only come from God!

I am Blessed!!!

Happy, Happy Birthday!!!

Today is my husband, Big Bear Jer's, Birthday!

The first birthday that I ever spent with Jer was his 19th birthday. Now we have a son who is 19, and it is inconceivable to me that we were his age when we met.
We seemed so much more grown-up.
Adults!
Ha ha- We were babies.

So anyway, at this point in our lives we have spent more birthdays together than we have before we met.
Time FLIES!!!

I am so thankful for Big Bear Jer. He is a wonderful husband and father. We have weathered the storms, and here we are at another birthday.
What a Blessing!

And, I think he is even More handsome than I did way back when.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUBBY!
I LOVE YOU!!!

"A heart that loves is always young."
A Greek Proverb

This is the first Valentines Day in many, many years that
I am not with Big Bear Jer. As you know from previous posts, I am at my Mom's helping her.
I really miss Hubby, but it has been a special blessing to be here with my Mom.
Valentines Day can really be any day that we choose, so we will celecbrate in a couple of days...

I hope that you all had a wonderful & happy day!!!

Our Plans

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps."
Proverbs 16:9

If any of you are wondering why I have boots, instead of flip flops, on my post today, it is because our plans have changed...

My Mom's health has changed a a bit, so she is not up for a big trip. So, instead Little Sis & I are here taking care of her, which is exactly how it was suppose to be.

Anyway, God's plans are always better than ours. I am so thankful that all of this happened before our trip, because it would have been horrible for her to be so sick in Florida.

So, here we are, still in the frigid Mid-West, Buurrrrrr!!! But, that's O.K., because Mama is safe and sound. :)

Count Down To Flip Flops!

In three days I will be sporting some flip flops. I will be flip flopping all over the place. I Cannot Wait!

I am such a beach girl, and I love the ocean. I love the sound, the smells, the breeze, and of course, the beauty!

There is something about the ocean that just fills me up!

Five Days and Counting!!!

Here we are. The
"Get On A Plane And Fly To Florida Trio".
Yes, the three of us, me, my Mom and Sis are leaving in FIVE days. I cannot wait!

My friend, Debbie, from my post Gift Givers & Guilt, gifted all three of us with these beautiful wraps at Christmas, and we love them. But, I am happy to say that those things are coming off, and summer wear is going on!

Oh the comfort and beauty of a t-shirt, shorts and the ever beloved flip-flops.
I always feel like life is so sweet when I hear the " flip- flop, flip-flop, flip-flop" sound that
flip-flops were so appropriately named after.

Yes, we are being selfish in our prayers this week, because we are praying for
HOT WEATHER & SUNSHINE!!!

Brave, Honest & Obedient

My friend, Renee from Sewn With Grace, also a mom to one of the girls who came to the purity retreat, went above and beyond and made gift bags for all of the girls. Inside were some little things that girls like, but best of all, she made them some very special journal covers, each one different from the next. Visit her blog to get a close-up view of them in her post titled "Journal Covers" Thank You Renee!!!
The retreat was so much fun!
We had four beautiful, wonderful young women come and speak with the girls about their own purity journey's. All four were brave, honest and so obedient in sharing their stories.
Thank You, You Four Wonderful, Beautiful Girls!!!

Places In Our Hearts That God Leaves Space For...

God has blessed me with three wonderful boys, but also given me a heart for girls. Tonight and tomorrow my friend Kelly and I are doing a Purity Retreat for ten high school girls that we have been meeting with all year.
They are a wonderful bunch and I am so excited to spend this time with them, and am praying that God does some very special work in all of our hearts!

Who thinks that I can stay up all night?
Ha ha
I don't even think that I would vote yes on that one!

Gift Givers & Guilt

Aren't we lovely in our matching Leopard Girl PJ's? It was like being in the jungle all weekend!
See these two? They are Gift Givers. They, along with lots of hugs and words, show their love for you with gifts. I happen to be one of the blessed recipients of their gift giving. We went on a little get-away weekend, along with another friend, Kelly, and of course, Renee and Debbie brought gifts.

Debbie, on the left, got us all matching leopard print flannel pj's. (So her personality!) And, Renee from Sewn With Grace, whom I call my "Little Amish Friend" even though she is not Amish, but very talented, made each one of us and the girls we went to visit, a beautiful fabric scarf.

There is a certain amount of guilt when it comes to being in a friendship with a Gift Giver, but I have decided to push past that and just enjoy their enjoyment in showering me with gifts. Ha Ha

Do any of you have a special Gift Giver in your life? Any guilt with that?
